Hi, my name is Edgardo Arvizu. I’m 31 years old and I live with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a condition that slowly weakens the muscles over time. I have been in a wheelchair since I was 10 years old, and as the years have passed my mobility has become more limited.
I currently also use a BiPAP machine to help support my breathing.
Even with these challenges, I try my best to stay positive and enjoy life. One of the things that truly makes me happy is being able to get out of the house, spend time with friends, go for a drive, or simply change my environment. Simple things like that mean a lot to me.
Right now, we are trying to repair and adapt a van so it can safely transport my wheelchair. Having an accessible van would help me so much because it would allow me to go to medical appointments, spend time with friends and family, and get out of the house more often.
Without a vehicle that can accommodate my wheelchair, it’s very difficult and sometimes almost impossible for me to leave home.
That’s why I’m asking for help to repair this van so I can have a little more independence and freedom. Any support means so much to me. And if you’re not able to donate right now, sharing this fundraiser would also help me greatly by helping it reach more people.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can give.
God bless,
Edgardo Arvizu
