Hi, my name is Carmen Muller.
In September 2026, I will be taking on a 540 km charity cycle from London to Amsterdam, riding from 16–20 September to raise awareness of cancer and support the incredible work of Marie Curie.
This challenge is deeply personal to me. I am riding in memory of friends whose lives were cut far too short by cancer and in honour of everyone who continues to face this disease every day.
One of these people was my friend and former flatmate Becky, whose strength and kindness I carry with me throughout this challenge.
I am riding in memory of my dear friend Rebecca Jane Nicholson, who passed away from colorectal cancer in February 2024 at the age of 45, and in honour of my friend Alex Agenbach, who sadly lost her battle with breast cancer in March 2026 at just 35 years old.
I am also dedicating this ride to the memory of Caroline Embrey, who lost her battle with cervical cancer in 2024. Caroline's husband organised our cycling team and will be taking part in the challenge alongside us. Her memory continues to inspire everyone involved, and it is a privilege to be part of a group that has come together in her honour to raise awareness, support those affected by cancer, and help fund vital research.
Rebecca, Alex and Caroline each faced their journeys with courage and strength. This ride is a tribute to their lives, the memories they leave behind, and the lasting impact they have had on their families, friends and everyone who knew them.
Cancer affects not only those diagnosed but also their families, friends, and loved ones. Too many of us know the heartbreak of losing someone we care about. Through this cycle, I hope to honour those we have lost, support those who are still fighting, and raise awareness of the impact cancer has on so many lives.
To take part in this challenge, I am aiming to raise £2,200 by 15 July 2026.
The event organisers estimate that approximately £1,100 of this amount covers the costs of participating in the challenge, including:
• Ferry crossing from Dover to Calais
• Eurostar ticket from Amsterdam to London
• Four nights' accommodation
• All meals during the event
• Support and backup vehicles, including mechanical assistance
• Water stops and snacks between checkpoints
• Route markers and cycling guides
• First aid support
• GAC's 24-hour emergency on-call team
The remaining funds raised will support the work of Marie Curie (Registered Charity Numbers: 207994 in England and Wales and SC038731 in Scotland), helping to provide expert nursing care, hospice services, practical support and vital research for people living with terminal illnesses and their families.
I am fully committed to completing this challenge and, if necessary, will personally cover any shortfall required to meet the event's fundraising commitment.
Every donation, no matter how small, will help me honour the memories of Becky, Alex and Caroline, while supporting Marie Curie's vital work for people living with terminal illness and their loved ones. Thank you for helping me make every mile count.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this page with friends, family, and colleagues would mean the world to me.
Thank you for your support, generosity, and encouragement. Together, we can make a difference. More information about the London to Amsterdam charity cycle can be found here: https://www.globaladventurechallenges.com/challenge/london-amsterdam-challenge
