Severe leg injuries due to Hit - and - Run. Help support Michael, his wife, and their growing family with medical bills, rent, childcare, and vehicle loss.
My name is Sarah, and I am a friend, Ridgewood neighbor, and fellow PS68Q parent.
On March 17th around 11:00 AM, Michael’s life changed in an instant when he was hit and pinned by a vehicle while taking out his child’s car seat.
He was struck at the corner of 60th Street and 75th Avenue and rushed by ambulance to Wyckoff Medical Center.
Reddit Thread on accident and photos: 1) Michael's car where he was pinned, 2) Driver's truck abandoned a few streets over
Thankfully, Michael is stable, but his legs are not. Both of his legs were badly impacted with severe injuries, and after spending a week in the hospital, he now faces a long and uncertain recovery that may include extensive rehabilitation and possible surgery.
Michael is someone many in the community know and rely on. As a general manager at a local restaurant - The Seneca, he is used to being on his feet, leading his team, and showing up every day. Right now, that is not possible, as he is home and unable to walk or navigate stairs to his apartment. He is able to maintain some remote GM duties to maintain his pay for the time being.
At home, Michael and his wife Meghan are raising two children, with a third on the way this June. Their family is deeply rooted in Ridgewood. Michael is a longtime resident, and Meghan has been actively involved in the community, including her past role as Chief of Staff for City Council Elected. Mehgan's City Countil responsibilities ended at the end of 2025 and is between jobs with maternity care responsibilites coming up quickly. She is currently Michaels primary caretaker while trying to balance their other two children's logistics (school, dance, socer, etc).
They are also proud involved members of the PS68Q school community!
In an instant, their lives have been turned upside down. They are now facing overwhelming financial uncertainty, including medical bills, loss of income, vehicle damage, rent, everyday essentials, and childcare during recovery.
We are asking for any support you can give during this incredibly difficult time. Every donation, no matter the size, will help ease the financial burden so Michael can focus on recovery and being there for his family.
Michael also wants to express his heartfelt gratitude to the neighbors and Good Samaritans who stepped in to help at the scene and in the days since. Your kindness has meant everything, and he looks forward to thanking you in person.
If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this page to help spread the word.
