RIDE 4 LIFE USA - RIDE TO END SUICIDE

Hi, my name is Rex ShdesEagle and 9 years ago I successfully took my life with an intentional heroin overdose. By the Grace of God and a few good friends, I was revived.

The reason for my attempt to Un-Alive myself was because for the previous 27 years, ages 12-39, I was trapped in a Vicious Cycle of Addiction, Homelessness, and Incarceration from which I could see no end. For weeks leading up to that day, I was surrounded by friends and loved ones but felt completely isolated and alone. I felt as if there were no one I could talk to. I was filled with shame, guilt, and embarrassment from events that had happened decades earlier and felt no one would care even if I could muster the courage to tell my story.

I was severely sexually and physically abused as a child and kicked out of my home at age 12 when I fought back against my abuser. Within a year I would be strung out on Heroin & Alcohol, and at age 13 would be beaten and violently raped by 2 middle-aged men and left to bleed out.

All of this trauma I held onto in the deepest, darkest places in my soul and never processed what had happened to me. I turned to drugs and alcohol to ease my pain and soothe my suffering.

This was the lie that led me to take my own life. In the last 9 years, I have turned my life around. I have become a published Author, Started a Recovery/Trauma Healing Podcast, started a Nonprofit and Have become a Minister, Trauma debriefer, D&A Counselor, a D&A Interventionist, a Spiritual Life Coach, and continue to work on my recovery and sponsor individuals.

As Men in America, we are told to bury our emotions, to swallow our feelings.

80% of all suicides in the U.S. are Men.

This is a staggering number and must be addressed.

Sometime between the last week of June and the first week of July 2023, I will begin a bicycle journey across our Great Nation.

I will travel from Seattle-San Francisco-Denver-D.C.-N.Y-Boston. A journey of over 4,780 miles.

I will be stopping along the way to speak at engagements and will be raising money to raise awareness, provide outreach, and offer mental health services for all who need them but especially our Fathers, Sons, & Brothers.
