This is the official GoFundMe for the team production of the short film, RIDE PENDING, written and directed by Sam Tiwanak. RIDE PENDING is one of the two winning screenplays selected for production as part of the CINE 410 course, Advanced Cinematic Production. Our team is made up of eight students in the Cinematic Arts program at UH Manoa. The team members involved in our production include Hannah Dumon, Andrew Silva, Ryan Shinjo, Aimee Lam, Michael Burdine, Neil Frankel, Sam Tiwanak and Vance Shimabukuro. Film Description:

RIDE PENDING follows the story of Sara, an Asian American college student, who finds herself stranded after a long hike in Honolulu. With limited service and cell phone battery, she calls for a ride-share. However, she must determine whether her driver may have terrifying intentions.

Message from the Writer/Director:

My name is Sam Tiwanak and I am the writer and director of RIDE PENDING. I am extremely lucky, and could not be more excited to make this film but I can’t do that without the help of my talented team. Our crew is entirely made up of UH Manoa students, putting in countless hours to bring this film to life, through the countless paperwork, set design, social media management, scheduling,etc. Making a movie isn’t easy and requires the necessary funds that come with it. While this film is created under the University, we are required to fund this film on our own. We created this GoFundMe as a way to alleviate the financial requirements this film will take. Every dollar helps us toward our goal of feeding our crew, aiding in set/prop design, wardrobe, and transportation. We hope that with the donations we receive, we can create something that we can be proud of showing to all of you.

More about our Director:

Sam Tiwanak is a senior at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and is a passionate and driven filmmaker dedicated to telling stories that resonate with audiences. In 2021 his short film, “REASON” was awarded first place in the State competition of the 2021 PTSA Reflections, and was awarded the “Award of Excellence” at the National Level. This further fueled his motivation to continue storytelling at UH Manoa using his education to broaden his filmmaking abilities, and create connections with fellow filmmakers. With RIDE PENDING, Sam continues to push forward, ensuring that his film not only entertains through strong visual storytelling and immersive sound design, but leaves a lasting impression after the credits roll.
