I am a senior at Berkeley High School. Right now, I am biking from Humboldt County to Berkeley, tent camping along the way, and raising funds through this ride for the Sunrise Movement .  This year, Sunrise Movement was an amazing outlet for me and thousands of other young people.  Since COVID hit in March, I've been schooling at home, and feeling isolated and stir crazy along with a lot of other kids. I began to be more active in Sunrise Movement. They offered live virtual political education via Sunrise School about the interconnected causes and solutions for climate change, racial justice, and economic justice.  During the primaries and election, they taught hundreds of high schoolers and even middle schoolers how to organize. They led us in zoom meetings through phone banking, letter writing, and direct action to get Green New Deal candidates on the ballot and elected, and influencing the Biden Administration to appoint people like Deb Haaland to his cabinet and have a stronger climate platform. They are incredible, and I recommend checking them out and getting involved if you aren’t familiar with their work and influence.  My generation needs to organize like this to solve the climate, racial justice, and economic crises we are in, and we need organizations like Sunrise to show us how it's done.
