Hi, my name is Corey Wallace, a professional musician/trombonist/educator based in Brooklyn, NY. I'm also an avid cyclist! I'm interested in continuing my cycling journey by entering the TD Bank Five Boro Bike Tour (May 3, 2026) and the Michelob Ultra GFNY World Championship (May 17, 2026).
My initial idea was to join a charity and raise money, but after looking at the list of charities, I noticed that there were none devoted to music or music in schools - a mission that is near and dear to my heart, having taught in performing arts high schools, as well as public and charter schools, for 13+ years! So, I am creating that opportunity by combining my love for cycling and music!
I am raising money to cover my costs and fees for this part of my cycling journey, and I'm elated to donate the vast remainder of the fund to non-profit organizations that are pushing through today's changing climate of education to preserve music in our schools and communities.
The funds donated will go towards a wide range of needs for the non-profits - from ongoing programming like workshops and masterclasses, securing top freelance musicians, artists, and educators as mentors to providing instruments, lessons, covering instrument maintenance fees for students! This funding is to HELP in anyway we can.
My professional career as a musician would be non-existent without music programs and teachers that devoted time and resources to the next generation. I also recognize that my career and life would be vastly different without my love for cycling and renewed vigor for health! In combining them, I aim to start an ongoing season of giving through fitness, health, and music!
