Ride for Diversity in Construction

Tax deductible
Hey! Nice to meet you. I’m Georgia and I absolutely love the construction industry. I also cycle and go on multi-day bike packing rides around the world.

I'm about to cycle a hefty 828 miles (1,300kms) around Iceland to raise scholarship funds to open up doors to careers in construction for African American and underserved students. That's the equivalent distance of San Fransisco to Seattle, Washington in the U.S., or Sydney to Adelaide in Australia.

I work with incredible go-getters who build the spaces and infrastructure that connect us all and the work is incredibly rewarding and challenging. The thing is, education costs are prohibitive with average costs of between $20-50,000USD. In addition, there are diversity and inclusion issues that prevent many people from securing work in construction. With your help, we can change this.

That’s why I’m cycling around Iceland’s ring road, fully unsupported for 21 days. It’s going to be grueling, cold, wet, windy but with the upside of some stunning scenery and riding for this cause.

My goal is to raise $10 per mile which is $8,280 USD. It will go to the Associated General Contractor Education Fund to assist students studying construction fields at historically black colleges and universities, or HBCUs in the USA.

It’s a stretch but I love a challenge! Each mile sponsored will open the doors to construction careers and play a part in increasing diversity in construction.

I’ve kicked-off things with $500 of my own…can you help me beat this goal?
