I suffered spinal cord injury over 20 years ago in a motorcycle accident leaving me with a paralysed left arm and chronic pain (Brachial Plexus Injury). I overcame my disability and eventually raced the IOM TT course as the only one armed rider to do so. After achieving my dream on the motorcycle I shifted my efforts into cycling, on and off road as a paracyclist competing in both able bodied and para events, I found the benefits both physically and mentally to be huge.
In August last year I had spinal cord surgery at the Walton Neuro center Aintree, I’m happy to say this surgery gave me a better quality of life and reducing my chronic pain significantly, so much so that after 21 years, I have completely come off all medications. It goes without saying this a massive step to achieve. I have therefore set myself a goal to cycle Lands End to John o groats in Septembers Ride Across Britain, a 9 day stage event cover over 100 miles a day. In doing this, I hope to raise some funds for the Walton Centre to give something back, firstly as a massive thanks, but to fund desperately needed equipment. ✌
Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of The Walton Centre Charity and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
