Rico's fighting chance

"Dogs aren't like family members, they are family members"

If you have the pleasure of knowing Jen and Joe, then you understand the unconditional love they have for their dogs. You know them as their children and see the never ending lengths of sacrifices they would make for Rico, Emma and Bobo each and every second of their lives. Jen and Joe are not the individuals to ask for help and never have been, but we all know they are the first to give everything they have to family and friends in need, no questions asked. They spend their lives putting everyone else first including their community and would never expect even the slightest gesture in return, which is why I am hoping we can come together to help them during this difficult time.

As many of you know and some may not, Rico was recently diagnosed with cancer. This nightmare started this past fall after they found a mass on his back leg. After several visits to the veterinarians office, it was treated as an infection. As the months went on the mass continued to remain present and showed no signs of healing. Rico was eventually sent to see a specialist who later determined it was best to perform surgery and remove the mass for a biopsy. On February 19th Rico underwent surgery. A few days later they recieved the devastating news that the mass was cancerous and he was diagnosed with stage one sarcoma. Thankfully the specialist caught it early, which has opened the door for a few different options in terms of treatment plans, but as we all know nothing is guaranteed especially when we are dealing with cancer. Rico will need invasive electro chemotherapy which cost $1,400 per treatment. The specialist is hoping chemo will help to put Rico into remission, but this cancer carries a high percentage of regrowth if untreated, which would leave Rico fighting for his life. If you know my sister, then you fully understand that Rico is her world. He is more than just a dog, he is her child, her best friend and the glue that holds her together.

I am asking for your help whether it be prayers, or even a small donation. If jen or Joe has ever been there for you in a time of need, please considered being there for them in this scarey time. This is not something they are asking for, but without our help Rico's options will become very limited. Rico boy just turned 7 and still has so much life to live! Help me, help them!
