A 3,000km Indian adventure in a 7 horsepower glorified lawnmower. The Rickshaw Run is easily the least sensible thing to do with two weeks.
No set route, no back-up, no way of knowing if we're going to make it. The only certainty is that we will get lost, we will get stuck and we will break down.
It's just us in a wholly unsuitable vehicle, traversing the subcontinent enduring whatever shit the road throws at us.
Who? Richard, Christiaan, Frank, Jelle, Erik en Daniël. A group of six friends from Apeldoorn set for a great adventure.
When? January 2nd 2018!
Why? To save the rainforest!
We depend upon the rainforest for everything.
The reality of climate change is no longer up for debate. It is real and it is happening now. Our changing climate is the most pressing challenge facing our world today.
Forest loss plays a major part in this, contributing to more than 21% of all CO2 emissions. Keeping rainforest standing is the simplest and cheapest way to mitigate climate change.
Despite this, we are destroying the world’s rainforest at a faster rate than ever.
Cool Earth works alongside indigenous villages to halt rainforest destruction.
Local people stand to lose the most from deforestation but the most to gain from its protection, that’s why they are the forest’s best possible custodians. All Cool Earth partnerships are community-owned and led.
By developing local livelihoods, their mission is to end the cycle of deforestation entrenching villages into further poverty. Creating strong, self-determining communities.
Not only that but 90% of your donation goes straight to the rainforest and their indigenous partners. So whilst we're driving a glorified lawnmower across India, we know that our risk taking tendencies and fundraising efforts are helping keep rainforest standing.
