Rick's hospital and final expenses

As most of you already know my daddy Rick Cochin has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Approximately 2 months ago he began getting very sick. He couldn't keep anything on his stomach and he was very dizzy. He couldn't walk without our help. Well, after four or five ER visits and a couple primary care Dr. visits we finally took him to Anne Arundel ER and that is when we found out the devastating news. It was around four years ago when my dad began to experience extreme dizziness. The Dr.'s diagnosed him with Vertigo and treated him with the appropriate medication. We all believed that's exactly what it was because after taking the meds his symptoms subsided and he was back to his normal self. Fast forward to around two months ago when the same symptoms returned. He went to the Dr. was again told the vertigo was back received medication and sent home. The problem was this time he wasn't getting better. The medicine wasn't working and he was feeling worse everyday. During this time was when my mom had him back and forth to the local E.R and his Dr. and all the Dr.'s were telling him it was vertigo. He continued taking medication to treat vertigo but never got any better, only worse. It wasn't until the third or fourth E.R visit was when they seen the mass on his lung. The Dr. wanted him to be admitted to the hospital but there weren't any beds available. (Smh) So again they sent him home still treating him as if he had vertigo. Finally our last E.R visit they found another spot on his cerebellum. (Base of his brain stem and spine) By this time my mom and myself were beyond frustrated. Not only did the Dr. continue to treat him as if he had vertigo, he again sent him home because there were no beds available. Now I'm pissed because my daddy wasn't getting better. He was laying in his bed unable to eat, walk, and in extreme pain. Finally, my mom and I took him to Anne Arundel medical center and that is where our nightmare began. They admitted him and eventually told us that he had stage four lung cancer. He was there for approximately a month receiving radiation. After his treatments they wanted him to go to rehab for physical therapy but by this time he was entirely too weak. They brought him home for one night. Everyone who knows my daddy knows he's a big guy even though he has lost a tremendous amount of weight. So my mom and I couldn't care for him properly at home because we couldn't even get him out of bed to the bathroom. The following day was when they transported him to Hospice, where he will stay for his remaining time with us.
I don't think anyone can prepare emotionally for anything like this and unfortunately we didn't prepare financially either. My daddy worked for the movies which is seasonal so we are unaware yet if my mom will receive his life insurance through his job and unfortunately he didn't obtain a personal policy. He only has around $2,000 left in his 401K and we are unsure when his health insurance runs out through his employment. He was the primary contributor in our household. Basically, my daddy took great care of his family. Which brings me to the purpose of this campaign for him. The donations will go to paying his hospital bills, paying off his personal bills, and towards his funeral expenses. I want to thank everyone in advance and if you are unable to donate anything that is ok. I just ask that you please like this page, share it, and pray for my daddy and our family. That will be a tremendous help and donation in itself. God bless you and thank you from my family and my daddy!!
