Rick Czosek’s fight against pancreatic cancer

As some of you may know, this past July of 2022, Rick was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that was found incidentally. He was initially diagnosed with borderline-resectable pancreatic cancer, which means that he may be a candidate for surgery after receiving chemotherapy. Recently, it was discovered that the cancer was metastasized to the liver which may have been since the beginning and just not seen on the initial scans. We are hopeful that he will be able to still undergo surgery sometime in the future.

Rick(58) has been otherwise very healthy, active, and this has come as a huge shock to both himself and his family. He has dedicated his life to his family, including his wife and two daughters, volunteer firefighting- serving as both a second assistant chief and firematic lieutenant at Bellevue firehall, first aid captain (now an exempt member). Along with working as a registered nurse for the past 32 years, even working through the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, he is unable to work at this time due to treatments, but honestly cannot wait to get back to it!

Rick is a dedicated husband, father, brother, son, uncle, friend to many, and grandfather of two young grandchildren- Lincoln, 8 and Oliver, 4 years old. 

Rick and his family would be grateful for any support to subsidize their medical bills and travel expenses as they continue to fight this battle. The funds would be used specifically for any medical bills, treatments, and medications that are not covered by insurance along with possible travel to other medical facilities such as MD Anderson Cooper and Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as there are many new trials being discovered that Rick may be able to be a part of.

We thank you during this time of the unknown. Rick is remaining positive and hopeful and keeping his comedic personality throughout this difficult time. He continues to smile and be courageous during his battle.
