Rick’s Battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma
Donation protected
On the morning of New Year’s Day, Rick went to the ER feeling unwell. He suspected an issue with his stomach, and within the week, it was determined by his doctors that he had Diffuse Large B Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. This type of cancer causes white blood cells to function improperly and hinders their ability to fight infection. Diffuse means it is mobile and can spread more easily than other types, but the doctors believe it was caught at a point that treatment will be effective. At the time this GoFundMe was created, Rick is beginning Chemotherapy and is being monitored on a weekly basis by his medical team as they navigate the Chemo and try to minimize its effect on the healthy parts of his body, as it is extremely toxic. This explanation is meant to give you an idea of what his path back to good health will look like. These next few months will not only be draining physically and mentally, but also financially, as we are preparing for the expenses that insurance does not cover. His wife, Kari, his children and his grandchildren alike are determined to keeping him in the highest possible spirits as they do what can physically and financially to keep the Vancza family focused on the main goal, kicking cancer’s ugly ass. We are raising money to help ease the financial burden caused by cancer, as we understand many before us and many after will also experience this dilemma, and so we hope you’ll consider donating any amount you can, to ease the minds of all affected as best as it can be eased. If you know Rick, you know him to be no stranger to a hard work, and while we know this will be a daunting task ahead, we know he will approach this with the strength, resilience, and a quiet dignity that will undoubtedly see him healthy again. We thank you for your support, financially and otherwise and please understand that even if you can not donate, spreading the work is just as helpful.
