Rick's Life Altering Battle with Osteomyelitis

My dear brother has been diagnosed with a rare infection called Osteomyelitis and this rare bone infection is located at the base of his skull. Unfortunately this infection has paralyzed his tongue and he can no longer swallow liquid or eat and has great difficulty speaking,  this infection has also affected his hearing.  Our family and doctors are all hopeful that he will regain some nerve activity, but there is a possibility he will not and until he can eat again, he now has a permanent feeding tube in his stomach.  My brother has been in the hospital for 4 weeks, 2 of which he received incredible life saving care at Stanford Medical center and is now back at Sutter Roseville Hospital.

My brother will be on intravenous antibiotics for 6 more weeks and will hopefully be discharged this week.  My brother's journey will be very difficult and he will need assistance with his new way of eating and caring for his ports, his antibiotics and feeding tube.  My brother will need speech and physical therapy along with a hearing device. All of this is is even more complicated because my brother is also a type 1 brittle diabetic, who has only one kidney and is permanently disabled. 

Medical costs are high and we know all of his care and medicines will be expensive even with insurance and we humbly ask for your donations that will be used for his medical care. We don't know what to expect, but our family has always been so close and we will do anything to help my dear brother during this scary life changing medical event.  Our family would be so grateful and humbled to anyone who can help us out and if you can't help during these difficult times, we understand and ask for prayers and good vibes for my dear brother's full recovery.
