Rick Speiker "Rick the barber " and wife Karen

Hello, my name is Amber and I am creating this for my grandfather Rick Speiker also well known as "Rick the barber".

As most of you may already know, my grandfather had a horrible accident on March 3rd and is in the intensive care unit in critical condition. A gun accidentally went off and shot him in the head. As horrific and tragic as you can imagine this was for our family especially his children- daughters Wendy and Rachel were there and were quick to resuscitate him giving CPR and ensuring no loss of oxygen to the brain while also stopping any bleeding. By the grace of god, my grandfather is still alive and recovering more and more daily leaving doctors speechless. As of most recently, he has proven that he is capable of breathing on his own and was taken off of the ventilator for a short time. We did have a setback with some medication reactions so he is now back on the ventilator but Doctors are certain he will be able to come back off of it again once we regulate and understand his medication needs first. He has awoken and is moving his legs and arms, squeezing hands, wiggling his toes, as well as opening his eyes. He has even spoken a few short words and remembers family. He is responsive to Doctors' commands and proving just how resilient and strong he is. It is certainly a miracle that he is still with us and recovering as well as he is but he still has a long road of recovery ahead of him. Our grandmother Karen now bares the burden of life expenses and medical care for him as Rick was providing for them and is now unable to do so.

We decided to reach out to the community to people who loved Rick and Karen and who might be in a situation to help. We truly appreciate anything you can give to help our grandmother get through this tragic time so we can relieve any extra stress as possible.
