Rick Sherwood's Medical Expenses
Donation protected
ON 7-23-17, Rick and Angie were with a group of friends. They were riding their motorcycles on highway 145 by Telluride Colorado when a deer jumped out of a ravine and knocked into the two people in front of them. Rick tried to avoid the wreckage but ended up crashing into the debris. This caused a chain reaction and both Rick and Angie were thrown off the bike. Even though they were wearing protective gear and helmets, Angie ended up with cuts and bruises and Rick sustained life threatening injuries. He was air lifted to a trauma hospital in Grand Junction. He was diagnosed with a brain bleed and a severe break in his clavicle and just got out of ICU and transferred to the medical floor. They are hours from home and Rick will need long term care and rehabilitation. He does not have short term or long term insurance and is physically unable to work. His employer is holding his job but cant continue to pay the medical premiums. This is a catastrophic event and I dont need to explain the financial struggles this family will be facing. Rick and Angie are salt of the earth. They are the first to help others and are always there to lend a hand to their friends and strangers. This freak accident could happen to anyone. They are at risk of losing their health insurance and wont be able to pay their household bills much longer. Their savings is wiped out and the medical co-pays are starting to come in. They have always been hard workers and have never asked for anything. The reality is that they need help to get through this ordeal. I'm asking that you consider donating....anything will help. This is truly a case of a bad thing happening to really good people. I have know this family for years and have seen their acts of kindness over and over again. We dont have enough people in the world like the Sherwoods. Now its time to pay it forward and to help them.
