Hello, we would like to share some tough news about our good friend Rick Petersen. In late October of 2023, Rick noticed a lump in his neck and throat that over a couple weeks was getting progressively larger. After a couple biopsies, Rick and family were given the unfortunate news that he has cancer in his neck. The doctors have referred to it as head and neck cancer.

Since Rick’s diagnosis, he has been incredibly positive and has definitely kept his awesome sense of humor. With that said, Rick knows he is in for a huge battle with this disease. He will be starting radiation on December 4th, and his chemo treatments will be starting the week of December 10th.

A couple tidbits about Rick that we would like to share. Rick is always there for his friends and family. Rick is an amazing father to his three children, Taylor (25), Jackson (15) and Jason (13). He is also a loyal supportive husband to Maggie his wonderful wife of 18 years. Whether it is coaching, fishing, bowling or just hanging out you can always find the Petersen family spending quality time together. They are a very loving supportive family and Rick always has an open ear to listen and talk through the hard things in life. Along with that, he has helped so many people on their journey to recovery from substance abuse. Rick has helped people get their life back by offering work to those who could not find a job along with friendship and fellowship to people that had no one else left in their lives. He is literally a lifesaver, a role model and a respected member of the recovery community.

So now, it is time to support Rick and his family the way they have always supported others. Rick runs his own business and employs several people that depend on him for work. The next stage of this battle will consist of months enduring both radiation and chemotherapy while trying to stay on top of his business as he continues to be a supportive husband, father and friend, not to mention the extra expenses with medical bills and such that will be coming the Petersen’s way.

When we asked Rick about starting this Go Fund Me, he welled up with tears in his eyes and said he would take all the help he can get. Let us now show Rick how much we care for him and his family.
