First off, I'd like to say for those who know me, I don't ask for help unless I need it. I never thought I'd be on this platform asking for help. I'm a man of solutions and figuring out how to get over hurdles any way I can. I often work multiple jobs at the same time to make ends meet and I always find a way to pull through.
I've been out of work since March 2020 when I was laid off three part-time jobs that I desperately need to make ends meet and help care for my disabled parents.
On 9/3/20, I was involved in a car accident where I was rear ended by another vehicle and ended up with 9 herniated disks in my neck and back. I've been bed ridden for the better part of a month, but I've been trying to make the most of it.
While I'm still in recovery with that, things got worse on 10/3/20, I was admitted to the Emergency Room at PIH in Downey, CA and was admitted for a stay in the hospital. They determined that I had a kidney stone 1.9 cm that is blocking the tube that connects my kidney to my gall bladder. I ended up with an infection and have been waiting for surgery. The delay is due to COVID-19 restrictions and mandatory testing. I officially have a surgery date set for 10/28 and am expected to make a full recovery.
Even though I'm dealing with the herniated disks and the kidney stones, I've been going out at doing Uber Eats and Postmates deliveries to help pay for this operation and hospital stay, but I can only manage to get about $20/30 a day because of the pain tolerance. To make matters worse, my job is probably closing due to the pandemic and I'm now out of work until further notice.
The hospital bill and the medical procedure (after my insurance) is going to cost about $7500 total. I've come up with about $500 total, but can't seem to find a way to make the rest. The surgery cannot be pushed back because of a fear of the infection spreading.
I've always tried to find the positive side of any situation and I'm struggling to figure out how to make this work. I know most of you are struggling yourselves and I know that times are tough, but anything you could give, would be greatly appreciated.
