Rick Cowell Train Crash Support

Hi, my name is Christa. On early Friday, December 23rd my dad, Rick Cowell, had a violent crash with a train just outside of Glencoe. He sustained serious injuries, and his recovery is moving slowly. We know how lucky we are to still have him with us. On Christmas Eve he went in for surgery to rebuild his clavicle and on December 30th he is having surgery on his hand. He has a host of other injuries and will require respite as part of his recovery when he is finally released from the hospital. The insurance company has suggested that respite might not be covered. This request for funds is just to bridge the gap between what is covered and what is not. Christmas and holidays have made navigating the healthcare system, especially challenging.

That morning dad was to be helping at the St Vincent de Paul Christmas hamper program and was taking care of the animals on our farm as we were due to leave on a holiday.

He is a generous and giving man and devoted to this community. I know once he is back on his feet he will once again throw himself back into his volunteering with gusto.
