I am reaching out on behalf of my brother, Sean Cochran, as our family navigates the heartbreaking loss of his grandfather, Rick Cochran.
Rick was a hardworking and well-known man in the Coachella Valley. For many years he faithfully served the community through his pool construction business, Rick Cochran Pools. Even in his later years, Rick had no desire to slow down. He loved what he did and took great pride in his work and the relationships he built throughout the valley.
In January, while checking on one of his job sites, Rick walked down into a pool and suffered a devastating fall that would change everything. He was rushed to the hospital with a broken neck, brain bleeds, and multiple facial fractures. These were the most critical of several serious injuries.
In the early days following the accident, there was hope. Rick was responding to commands and showing signs of improvement. However, when the time came for doctors to remove the breathing machine so he could breathe on his own, Rick went into cardiac arrest and coded for 16 minutes that night.
Our family continued to hope and pray for a miracle. Rick later opened his eyes, but he was never able to respond again.
Over the past months, Sean has faced incredibly difficult decisions that no one should ever have to make. In the end, he had to make the heartbreaking decision to remove his grandfather from life support. Rick has now gone home to be with the Lord.
Rick leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and friendships throughout the Coachella Valley. He touched many lives through his work and through the person he was.
We are asking for financial support to help Sean cover the unexpected expenses associated with Rick’s final medical bills, cremation, and memorial services. Any support—whether through donations or prayers—means more to our family than words can express.
Sean has a strong village standing beside him, and our family is deeply grateful for everyone who has supported him through this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you in advance for your generosity, love, and prayers as we honor Rick’s life and legacy.
