Rick and Freya could really use our prayers and support.
For all that know Rick and Freya you know that they will always do more for others than they will do for themselves. Rick and Freya are the most selfless people you could ever meet and would never ask for help from anyone.
Rick had a very tragic accident on Saturday June 24th, 2023 working on his family's property. Rick was pinned under a skid steer in a ditch. He was life flighted to Salem hospital and where they have been treating him for a crush injury.
Both of Ricks lower legs are broken and his left leg has been crushed. When he arrived to the hospital he had no blood blow to the leg. He underwent a long vascular surgery to take and provide his leg with blood flow and to stablize the bones for now. He has been intubated and sedated since Saturday.
So far the doctors have decided to keep him on a ventilator an sedate him so fluids do not settle in his lungs. They have upped his sedation levels to try and give his body and heart more rest. The vascular surgery so far has been a success. At this time he has no movement in his left leg and it is still very swollen.
Rick will be undergoing another surgery today to place rods in his right leg and remove the outer stabilizer rods. They may do an adjustment at that time on his left leg and possible put some screws in it too. It may be a few days before we know the outcome of his left leg.
Freya has been by Ricks side since he has been at the hospital and plans to be by his side until she feels comfortable enough to leave him to go back to work. Rick recently started a new job and they are trying to find out the route to go with medical insurance.
Unfortunately, when traumatic accidents happen the bills do not stop. Even when our world has stopped the world around us continues to move.
Rick has a very long road of recovery and will not have the ability to drive for quite some time. There are many items in the future insurance will not cover and many unexpected expenses will arise. Moving forward there will be an abundance of unknowns.
All money towards this fundraiser goes towards immediate expenses including but not limited to:
Home care when Rick goes home
Gas
Mortgage
Monthly bills
Grocery’s
Missed work for Freya
Expenses not covered by insurance
Since Freya will have to take an extensive amount of time off work to focus on Ricks care.
