The Richmond High School Boys Varsity soccer team is raising funds to help pay for the upcoming 2023-24 season starting in late October.
The team has been one of the best teams in the CIF-North Coast Section for many years.
The team puts great emphasis on education. Our philosophy is to play entertaining and winning soccer. Still, more importantly, it is to use soccer to help our players stay focused on academics, with an eye on going to college after Richmond High. The team's graduation rate is 100%, and on average over the last 5 years, 80% of our seniors go on to study at 4-year universities, mainly in the UC and California State systems. These stats are significantly higher than school-wide stats.
The team guarantees a spot on the roster to any deserving player, regardless of income. Many of our players' families cannot afford the fees charged by most youth soccer clubs. Consequently, playing high school is the only opportunity for some of our players to play organized soccer, the sport they and their families often feel the most culturally close to.
Because of this, the team needs a certain amount of money to pay for equipment for these players, in addition to the expenses we incur for food, athletic/medical supplies, team events and transportation to College Showcases (in particular, the West Coast High School Invitational in Oceanside, California.)
This year, about $2000 worth of soccer equipment, including balls and winter jackets were stolen over the Summer while stored on-campus. Some of the money we will raise will help pay to buy replacement equipment for the theft.
Players and their families will greatly appreciate any contribution you wish to make to the team. Contributions are tax-deductible.
