Learning Through Service - High School Student Program learning from and working alongside First Nations peoples in Arizona. Students will work on sustainability projects for water catchment, agriculture, and compost collection at the White Mountain Apache Reservation. This will take place during their spring break.

These urban Richmond students are focused on developing relationships with indigenous communities throughout the United Sates and the Americas to gain knowledge, conduct research, and develop meaningful service around issues of environmental sustainability and the challenges of climate change.

Student can strongly identify with indigenous resilience and cultural continuity. Lessons learned from one people can be shared with another. Building trust through respectful, early, and sustained engagement, prioritizing face-to-face or personal interaction is the key to developing expanded problem solving for similar groups.

These interactions promotes essential, diverse perspectives, such as environmental connection which helps counter the overstimulation of urban, tech-centric lifestyles.

This fundraiser, hosted by our adult and student team and is focused on raising the funds for the service projects students will work on in Arizona. Expense for travel and stay are covered by a grant.
