Hello!
Who we are:
My name is Dominic, I am a Jamaican Canadian based in Toronto Canada and I am coordinating this relief effort with my father, Richie Stephens (grew up in Westmoreland) and family in Jamaica to help people in the parish of Westmoreland, Jamaica who were impacted massively by Hurricane Melissa. It is heartbreaking to see the state of the parish where many people have lost everything and face health risks.
Why Westmoreland?
- Roughly 90% of the parish was left homeless as a result of the storm, with most infrastructure flattened.
- The parish has been declared ground zero.
How will funds be used:
By supporting this mission you help the Stephens family with collecting funds to purchase goods on the ground in Jamaica so that it can be taken to victims of the hurricane swiftly without international shipping delays. We will also be packing a barrel of supplies that will be sent from Toronto to Jamaica.
- Purchasing products on the ground in Jamaica for urgent delivery to Westmoreland (items include: medical supplies, food supplies, cleaning products, toiletries, etc.)
- Any shipping and delivery costs for quick delivery to residents in Westmoreland
Logistics:
- Funds and items will be sent directly to by Richie Stephens & Family in Jamaica to send down to Westmoreland
- In Toronto coordination will be led by his oldest daughter, Dominic -- and loved ones.
The goal is to pack a truck of items to take down to Westmoreland so that residents in Russia and neighbouring communities within the parish can benefit from supplies to protect their health and livelihood after the hurricane.
