Richard's Cancer Journey
Don protégé
On February 1st 2021, my boyfriend Richard was hit with a mysterious illness that within the following week left him hospitalized twice. The next week following the hospitalizations, he returned to his profession as a master mechanic - a job that he had done for over forty years. When he was able to return to work, he found within three hours into the work day, he became unable to perform his duties and responsibilities as an auto mechanic. Three days later he found himself forced to medically retire , he couldn't even lift sixty pound tires. Within the following weeks, he sold his beloved tools as well as his motorcycle after realizing he could no longer ride. He applied for SSI and began his journey of appointments with his PCP, urologist, and oncology specialist doctor.
Today, this fifty-six year old who always led an active life, served his country in the armed forces, and enjoyed life to the fullest now finds himself unable to be on his feet for a few hours without crippling pain and extreme fatigue. The doctors diagnosed him with lymphadenopathy and the treatment for a cure will depend upon the type of lymphoma involved. The journey has just begun!
The emotional toll to someone who has lost their insurance due to job loss and the financial responsibilities seem overwhelming. Any help or aid that you could render him would be most appreciated. Please keep him in your prayers. Thank you and may God bless each of you.
