Funeral for Richard

Donation protected
Losing someone is one of the most difficult parts of life, and with a heavy heart, I am asking for help for one of my closest family members.

**Sadly, Richard passed away at 2:18pm on February 13, 2017**

On behalf of my cousin, Patricia:

"Please help me bring my brother, Richard, home one last time..
To give you background, my 48 year-old brother, Richard,  has suffered 5 strokes in the past few years, and is now in Hospice down in Florida.

In December 2012, I was forced to move to a small condo due to my husband battling hepatitis. My brother, Richard Colombraro, who was living with a friend during this time, came to help me unpack. Seeing how much help I needed,  Richard stayed with us...acting as an aide to my husband and I. My husband passed on 3/2/2013, and Richard remained with me, helping me get through my difficult time. Richard had an opportunity in Florida and I knew he needed to go. He went, hesitantly, and things fell through...leaving him with short-term, low paying jobs.

In 2015, he sustained 2 strokes on the left side of his brain. He was diagnosed with carotid stenosis. Having no insurance, he was was unable to have the problem corrected. Later that year, he was outside when someone noticed he didn't seem right. He was taken to the hospital where it was determined he had stroke #3. This stroke left him with little difficulty getting words out, but, nonetheless still able to speak. He remained in the hospital where he once again had another stroke. This one was more severe leaving him paralyzed on the right side and unable to speak. He was then admitted to a nursing home. The positive person he was, he was able to smile, wave and say say 5 simple words.

Fast forward to last week --February 4, 2017--I was notified that he was found unresponsive and was going to the hospital. It was determined that he had a massive stroke, this time on the opposite side, leaving him in an unresponsive state. I was told by the doctors he would never recover. This week I had to make the difficult decision to place Richard into Hospice care and on February 13, he passed away.

The problem is he is in Florida, I am in NJ and live on Social Security. I do not have the means to have him returned to NJ where I could give him a catholic burial and have him laid to rest in the cemetary where my mother, father, my husband and other family members are buried. This leaves me with a heavy heart. I ask only for any donations that would provide me the opportunity to bring him back to me and lay him to rest close to home. Hoping to bring my brother, best friend, and man who would stop whatever he was doing to help anyone, known or unknown to him, home for the final time."

My cousin, Pat, has/continues to be a backbone for my family and was there every step of the way during my Dad's transplant. On behalf of me & my family, I would love to be able to do this for Pat & her family.
Thank you!
