Richard's Recovery & New Beginnings
Tax deductible
Richard Turner is a dear friend to many people, here in Atlanta and back home in Massachusetts. He has been working for Bicycle Tours of Atlanta off and on for seven years, but more importantly, he is a gifted artist and a deeply compassionate human being. His paintings, sculptures, photography and sketches are the true reflection of this wonderful man that so many of us count as our friend.
Wednesday, May 9th, Richard underwent brain surgery for an (Oligodendroglioma) tumor. The photo of Richard and his friends Meg and Sally was taken the night before the surgery. His spirits have been high and he remains optimistic, which of course, is half the battle! He is eager to get to the other side of this and get back on his bike, creating art and living a positive and healthy lifestyle.
As a patient of Grady, Atlanta’s public hospital, most of Richard’s medical expenses will be covered; however, there will be additional post-surgery services that he can only access if he has funding available. He will also need money to ensure he has access to healthy food, as he will be out of work for a few months. In order to give Richard the best possible chance for a successful recovery, we have created this GoFundMe Account.
Richard has resided at a men’s shelter in downtown Atlanta for a while, where he also volunteers with Cause for Hope, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that operates a clothing closet out of the shelter to serve the homeless. Cause for Hope’s executive director and Richard’s longtime friend, Meg Sparger, will manage the funds raised to support his post-surgery care. Your contribution to Cause for Hope, designated for Richard Turner, will be tax-deductible.
As friends of Richard, we ask you to please consider contributing today. Any amount is greatly appreciated and will be used wisely, while Richard is recovering from the brain surgery. We will keep you updated as we learn more from his surgery on Wednesday, May 9th.
Please keep Richard in your thoughts and prayers! Thank you.
