Support Richard Ruth, '55 Chevy Builder

My name is Stephanie, and this fundraiser is for my Dad Richard Ruth, builder, and creator of the famous '55 Chevy used in the Cult Classic movie Two-Lane Blacktop, and later used in the Academy Award-winning movie American Graffiti.

Dad moved his shop to Lake Havasu City Arizona in 2019. During the last few years he has had open heart surgery as well as hand and eye surgery. This February, the shop next door (with a large shared wall), caught fire and was heavily damaged. Fortunately, Dad's shop did not sustain much damage, but the building has to be rebuilt, and Dad has to relocate. 

As you can imagine, this is a quite sudden and unexpected turn of events. Dad is in need of help to pay for moving expenses, fuel costs, first and last month's rent on a new shop, and any unforeseen expenses.

There is no doubt that times are hard for everyone. We are only asking for help because it is desperately needed. Any little donation can help we assure you. We hope that your love of the cars Dad has built will motivate you to help any way you see fit.

Dad built the cars for the movies mostly on his own when he was just 23 years old, in about a 1000 square foot shop in the San Fernando Valley, California. You'll be happy to know that he still owns and uses most if not all the same equipment he used to build the cars! It is this very heavy equipment that is needing to be moved.

Thank you for your continued love of the '55 Chevys used in the two of the most widely known and favorite car movies of all time. Even though he is not really "internet-savvy", Dad is aware of the respect and love you all have for his work over the years. He appreciates and thanks each and every one of you for that!
