It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to a great man, father, and friend, Richard "Rick" McElroy.
Rick, resident of Houston, Texas, was born August 29, 1949 and left this earth on May 27, 2020. Rick is survived by his son, Steven, and his daughter, Amanda.
We are setting up this Go Fund Me Account on behalf of Rick's children to help assist them with end of life expenses and funeral costs after his unexpected sudden passing.
Rick will always be remembered as a man who truly loved his children, Steven and Amanda. Upon retirement, he moved to Houston to be near his children. Rick also dearly loved the world of swimming. He was a competitive swimmer and in his retirement years he was employed at FINS Swim School in Spring, Texas where he taught hundreds of children, teens, and adults to be safer and stronger swimmers for almost 6 years.
He had a profound impact on many of his swimmers who said Mr. Rick not only taught them how to swim, but gave them self-confidence. Rick's fellow team members are deeply saddened by his sudden loss and remember him fondly as a person who truly cared about their lives.
Rest in peace, Rick. Forever in our hearts. Father, friend, mentor.
