With broken hearts, the Matthias family is humbly seeking support after our beloved Richard Benjamin Matthias unexpectedly passed away this month. While the family is left with many unanswered questions following his passing, our first responsibility is to honor his life and most importantly, ensure his children are supported.
His unexpected death (at 55) tragically follows his wife's untimely passing almost 9 years ago after a battle with leukemia. Richard and his late wife, Christina, have now left behind their 4 children: Jacob (26), Jasmine (19), Daisy (17) and Lilly (16).
Richard was a homegrown north county resident, growing up in Fallbrook and most currently living in Vista with his 3 daughters. He loved family and fishing above all else.
Richard Matthias was a FORCE! He exuded excitement and enthusiasm with every spoken word. His unforgettable, passionate, playful, often-times crazy, and exuberant personality was unparalleled. To know Richard was to LOVE him. His one-of-a-kind voice echoes in the minds and hearts of not only his loved ones but anyone who ever crossed his path.
Any help is humbly and graciously appreciated, as funds will go towards all details surrounding a memorial service for Richard, tying up all of the loose ends his children have been left to sort out, and most urgently ensuring that his girls are in a safe & supported living situation in the immediate future.
Thank you in advance for your prayers, donations, condolences and continued support of his family. Richard was a dad, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and above all else, a FRIEND to so many. He'll be missed forever!
