Richard Matthew Garcia

Hello Everyone,

I'd like to extend a warm and sincere thank you for visiting our memorial page. My name is Mauricio Velazquez, and I've put this Memorial Page together to help commemorate my beloved nephew, Richard. There are no words that can truly express the loss that my sister, his brothers, his wife and his 2 year old son are experiencing.  For now, I would love to share a memory of Richard as was written by his younger brother Andrew:

"I am large, I contain multitudes" -Walt Whitman.

Richard Matthew Garcia passed away on May 10 at the age of 31. His grandparents saw him grow into a strong and loving man. We knew and loved him as a father, brother, son, husband, and friend. A diligent and humble student, Richard was in the middle of working towards a bachelor's degree. Above all, he fiercely protected and loved those he cared about. We will never know another who saw and lived in the world as Richard did.

We lost Richard much too early in life. He passed away unexpectedly of a heart failure. We were told that Richard developed a Heart condition that, unfortunately, showed little to no symptoms in younger adults. This is why his passing was so unexpected and shocking. Richard was destined to become a great man and he always defined himself by his actions. To Richard, Family and Fatherhood were two of the most important things in his life. He and his wife Kori were raising their son Noah in a time where the sanctity of family became more important than ever. So much so, that Richard chose stay home during the pandemic to raise Noah and be an integral part of his son's early life. His desire to be a great Dad and set a good example for his son, led him to care for Noah during the day and attended online college at night. He received his grades a few days after his passing and he made the Dean's List with a 4.00 GPA. For those of you who knew Richard, you understand how much this would've meant to him. We are all so proud of you mijo.

There is so much more to Richard, but it would take many more pages and many more words to even begin to tell the story of Richard, who he is, how much he meant to us and the genuine impact he had on us all during his life with us.

"Mijo, you are LOVED, you will not be forgotten and your legacy will live on through Noah. The impact you've made on Noah in his 2 years  of life will show & shine within him for a life time. The Love you showed Kori through you countless acts of Sacrifice & Grace will live in her forever. The acts of bother hood and family man you set for Christopher & Andrew will give them the guidance you longed to provide them. The way you treated Ruby and To like family, will strengthen their trust in family and the value in unity. The Love and Respect you have for your Mom is alive and well in her heart. Thank you for taking time in your life to tell her how important she is to you and how much you Love her. She is always listening."

Thank you to all for your prayers, love, and support during this difficult time in our lives. Thank you for taking time out of your lives to read about my Loving nephew, Richard. May God Keep & Bless you and your Loved Ones.

Funds will be used towards the cost of funeral expenses. Thank you.
