My husband, Richard Lynch passed away in June 2019.

He was bike mad!

About 10 years ago whilst working at the army barracks he saw a bike chained to a tree... he came home and said "I'm going to buy that bike" I laughed... he didn't even have a license! 6 months later he comes home, tail between his legs... "I got that bike"... I must of heard wrong so I ask what he said and again He says he got the bike! Turns out the soldier who owned it turned up whilst Rich was on his coffee break, rich saw him unchaining it and asked what he was doing. He was selling it and moving away.

Rich made an offer and that's where it all began, with bella his zx9r.

He passed his test, made a biker friend who introduced him to another and another and they started going out.

Rich then set up a Facebook group so they could arrange meets etc, just the 4 of them to start with but it grew, it got a name and now warwickshire and West Midlands bikers has over 2500 members.

Rich never wanted it to be massive, he wanted to keep it small and friendly, everyone knows each other.

Life ticked along nicely then, as it does.

We have 2 children, Luke is now 14 and Libby is 12.

Rich had a few more bikes... millie, DB, suzi etc... he loved it. He'd take Libby to the BSB and she'd meet the riders... she loves Hickman and tells everyone his mom sold her a hoody lol... Rich got her a hoody every single time they went.

The bike show was always a must and he had his same list every time... braided lines, helmet, hoody, break pads... he was a nightmare!

On father's day 2019 Luke and rich went karting for father's day, when we got home Rich went for a shower.. Libby shouted "mom daddy needs you" i went upstairs and he was sat on the edge of the bed, he said he didn't feel right. He looked off. I asked if he needed to go to the hospital and he said maybe. I went next door to get Annie our neighbour to watch the kids, when we got back rich was on the sofa.. he was grey. We decided to call 999. He spoke to them, said sorry for wasting their time and he felt better... they were sending someone anyway so I told Libby to go out and look for the ambulance. Rich hung up the phone, said "no" and stopped breathing.

Me and Annie did cpr, she went for the defib and we waited for 19 mins for help to come... during this time Luke came down and saw us giving cpr.

Finally 2 ambulances and a helicopter arrived after a long 19 mins of cpr and off we went to hospital. We had a long night of no one really understanding how he was so sick... he was 43 years old, not over weight, not a smoker...just a normal healthy and happy man.

Rich died the following morning, he'd had a cardiac arrest followed by a massive Heart attack.

He was just gone.

We had a bike escort for the funeral, the barracks let us have the wake there and since then our biker family has looked after us.

A just giving page was set up & I used the money raised to buy a defib and run 8 free cpr classes - we trained about 100 people and Libby came to every class. I've put his name on a life boat, the wing of a Vulcan, a steel heart and he has a star on the path in Leamington (spa stars) but it's not enough... I need to do more and my dream was to get his name on a BSB bike so he can fly around the track... he'd love that!

I had no idea how to do it but all i could imagine libbys face if she could see a race where her dad's name is on a bike!

I started sending emails and then, something happened.....

I got a call from a lovely man called Phil from https://trueheroesracing.co.uk/, they are a bike racing team who support Wounded, Injured and Sick UK Service personnel & Veterans.

I had told them about Rich, his love of bikes etc.

Not only is Dickies name going on one bike, it's going on All 5 in 3 classes!

They don't want to make any money from it but, given what they do and how generous they are being i really want to make a donation to them in dickies memory.... if you want to help with that, it would be amazing!

Thank you so much!!
