Richard Holub's fight against brain cancer
Donation protected
Richard Holub is a wonderful father, husband, friend and artist. He has so much love in his heart and he always makes everyone around him feel special. I can still hear his voice singing to me and I can hear his laugh, the best laugh in the world. When Richard smiles at you, you feel joy in your soul. And I know this might sound a little strange, but I love his crooked teeth. His smile is my favorite.
I’m writing on his behalf because he is no longer able to do so himself and hasn’t been able to for a long time. Richard has been struggling with brain cancer for most of 2018. At first, the doctors thought it was a viral infection so his treatment was delayed. When they finally did a biopsy, they found stage 3 Astrocytoma. Richard bravely fought using his strong will and endured chemotherapy and radiation treatment whilst not fully comprehending the severity of his declining health. He did manage to have a ton of fun during this process, keeping the nurses on their toes by pulling out his IV or parading around the halls in his birthday suit, so I'm told.
Richard has been in and out of hospitals and rehab centers for months on end. He is now at home in his bed under hospice care. We had hope that his feeding tube would give him proper nutrition and hydration to help him regain his strength to continue this fight, but he never did. Recently, Richard’s body could no longer process food indicating that his journey through this life may soon come to an end, at least in this world. I don’t think he’s ready to go and that’s the hardest part. When we tell him jokingly that we all take turns riding his beloved Harley, we still get that eyebrow raise, as if to say, "I dare you. Don't make me get up out of this bed!".
Carla is the love of Richard’s life and in charge of the final arrangements. These funds are needed as soon as possible because we don’t know how much longer we have with him.
Please help.
