Richard Grant Logging Accident Medical Expenses
Donation protected
On August 30, Richard Grant was hard at work. He had fallen a tree and was walking towards it, when a dead limb fell out of another tree, striking Richard in the head. Richard has never lost consciousness and is of sound mind. Richard was life flighted to UVA hosital, where he underwent extensive testing to see what was causing the paralysis from the neck down. The following morning doctors went in and removed a disk and fused 2 others together. The surgery was very successful. We are now praying for Richard to have a full recovery. We all remain very hopeful. Richard has regained slight movement in his right foot. However, at this time , he remains paralyzed while we pray for the swelling to go down, his movement, and feeling to resume.
Needs:
*Please pray specifically that Richard be completely healed, regaining all movement and feeling in his body.
*Please pray for safe travels as his children, family, and friends as they travel back and forth to UVA, while all the requirements of the farm are tended to.
*Please pray for his sweet wife, Angie, who has not left his side.
*Please pray for Richard to remain in good spirits and to be able to rest, because he never sits still and only knows how to be on a constant go.
*Please pray for the doctors to have the wisdom needed for Richard's specific situation.
*Please pray for the pain to be manageable.
The Grants do have medical insurance, however, there will be deductibles that will need to be met, expenses for eating in the hospital cafeteria, gas money of running back and forth to UVA because all the animals will need to be tended to, and all the other unforeseen expenses. Angie has been by Richard's side since the accident, since she and Richard are self employed, there are no sick days, personal days, vacation days, or floating holidays to help ease this financial burden for the Grant family. In no shape or form is the Grant family asking for a hand-out, they are extremely grateful for all the prayers, offers of farm help, and so much more that has already come. I, however, am asking that our community comes together to show this family love and encouragement through most importantly your prayers, but if you have just a little extra today could you help ease this one burden from them, so that when Richard's feet hit the ground, they will not have to spend anytime playing catch up.
For all those that do not know the Grant family. They are some of the hardest working people I have ever met. They all go from the crack of dawn, until the last chore is done no matter what time it is. They are people that offer you their last stick of gum at church, emergency hair cuts for your child that just got a hold of your scissors, hugs when need or just because, they support every 4H event, girl scout cookie sale. They support cakewalks and fundraiser for others in need.
I am asking you to please help me return just a little of the support they have given for so many years to our community.
The Grant family is giving GOD continual praise that Richard is alive, and of a sound mind. They believe whole heartedly that HE is in control and the power of prayer works.
