Richard Felkonis-Memorial Fund
Donation protected
Garfield Heights has lost their most dedicated worker.
Please consider donating to the Felkonis family for funeral expenses. They have suffered a devastating loss. The family was not prepared for this tragedy.
Rick Felkonis passed away suddenly on Friday, May 10, 2019. Rick was on his way to meet a good friend and suffered a massive heart attack while driving. He hit the median on Interstate 77 in Independence, Ohio and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rick was a graduate of Valley Forge High School, class of 1986. He was a proud alumnus and attended many high school football games.
Although his heart belonged to Valley Forge he also fell in love with
Cleveland Benedictine where his youngest son was becoming a man of faith and won a State Football Championship.
Rick was a dedicated worker for the City of Garfield Heights. He was in Building Maintenance. He was the perfect man for this job, as he had great attention to detail and would not rest unless the job was done to perfection. His work friends referred to him as "The Professor," as he was always correcting them on their English. Rick believed that no one should ever "Slaughter the King's English!"
Rick was married to his high school sweetheart Alisa for 32 years. His unconditional love to his wife was apparent to all he came in contact with. Alisa is heartbroken by his death.
He was a loving father of 5, having 3 daughters and 2 sons. He was a proud grandfather of 5 and one on the way. He adored his children and grandchildren and would walk to the ends of the earth to meet their needs.
Rick is a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Parma, Ohio.
Rick was an altruistic man who donated his free time to many organizations. He served as an active member of the Greater Cleveland YMCA Indian Princesses, and the Indian Guides for many years. Rick was the director of the St. Anthony Youth Softball Program. Rick also had a boogie in his step, dancing with his daughters and granddaughter in their dance recitals, for many years.
Rick was a selfless man always donating time to friends in need. He was a jack of all trades, mastering in carpentry, mechanics, and electrical. He would work tirelessly to support his family, but was never able to catch up. He would drop everything for a friend in need, regardless of the circumstances and his needs were always secondary. Rick lived as a man of God.
This devastating loss has put a great financial strain on the family. Will you please consider donating to help this family in their time of need?
My name is Meredith Berdysz and I am organizing this fundraiser to help the Felkonis Family. Rick Felkonis was my husband John Berdysz' best friend and co-worker and a dear friend of mine.
Rick's oldest daughter Amber is in charge of the final expenses and the beneficiary of this fund.
