Living With Rheumatoid Arthritis — A Journey Through Pain, Healing, and Hope
My name is Richard, and over the past years my life has been profoundly changed by Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA).
RA is an autoimmune disease where the body mistakenly attacks its own joints. It causes chronic inflammation, intense pain, stiffness, and fatigue. Some days the simplest movements — standing, walking, holding objects — become difficult. Living with RA means living with a body that can suddenly refuse to cooperate.
My diagnosis forced me into a period of deep rehabilitation and reflection. It slowed my life down in ways I never expected.
At first there was confusion, frustration, and fear about what the future might look like.
But over time something else began to emerge.
During this period of recovery I began a personal process of self-inquiry and inner work. For more than ten years I have explored a path of awareness and psychological transformation inspired by alchemical traditions — a process of turning suffering into understanding.
Out of that long journey something meaningful began to take shape: a practice I call “The Mirror.”
The Mirror is a method of honest self-reflection — learning to look directly at ourselves with responsibility, truthfulness, and courage. It grew directly out of the challenges I faced while living with RA.
Living with chronic illness strips away many illusions. It asks difficult questions about identity, control, vulnerability, and meaning. Over time I realised that what I was learning might also help others facing their own struggles.
Today I am asking for help so I can continue this journey while managing the realities of RA.
The support from this fundraiser will help me with:
• medical and rehabilitation costs
• safe accommodation during recovery periods
• daily living expenses while my health limits work
• continuing to develop and share the Mirror process that emerged from this experience
Living with RA is unpredictable. Some days are manageable, others are extremely challenging. But the illness has also taught me patience, humility, and a deeper understanding of what it means to live consciously.
Your support is not only helping me manage a difficult health condition.
It is helping me continue transforming a personal struggle into something that may help others reflect, understand themselves, and navigate their own challenges.
Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a real difference.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for being part of this journey.
— Richard
