My name is Carli Zimmerman, and I am writing this Go Fund Me page on behalf of my brother Richard (Dink) Zimmerman.
Richard has always been a hard worker, provider for his family, and an aide to strangers. Currently, he is having medical and financial problems and requires assistance from family, friends, and strangers.
Richard has always been there for his family and works long hours to provide for them. He works at the Harley Davidson factory in Tomahawk, Wi. This past year with the Covid-19 pandemic he was fired and later rehired when Harley Davidson needed more workers to return to work. During the time he was off work, Richard stayed home to care for his two children, James (11) and Cynthia (5).
Richard has always gone out of his way to help those in need in any way he could. It did not matter who it was, family, friends and even strangers. I have witnessed his kindness to others on many occasions. For example, one day while we were returning to his home from a fishing trip Richard had noticed a gentleman trying to change a tire on his pickup truck with too small of a jack. Richard had drove up next to the truck and told the owner that he would come back and help him after he dropped off the rest of the family at the house and got a bigger jack. He never asks for anything in return from anybody that he helps.
Richard’s problems started two months ago when he had gone to the doctor because he was not feeling right and was retaining a lot of water. After numerous tests and trips to the doctor, they are finally able to tell him what is wrong. He has Membranous Nephropathy (MN). It is an autoimmune disease where the immune system affects the way the kidneys function and can lead to kidney failure. The doctors are not sure how long the recovery time will be for him. My brother has lost weeks of work because of being admitted to the hospital because of this.
At this time, my brother does not know when he will be able to return to work. Richard has insurance but it only pays a portion of his bills. He has tried to get financial aide through the hospital to pay for his medical bills but was told that his income is too high to get assistance. Because of this we are requesting that family, friends, and strangers come to the aide of my brother. He has been there for others now is our chance to be there for him in his time of need.
