We created this GoFundMe page in response to the requests we have received from people who upon hearing of his sudden passing, wanted to help with our Dads funeral/final expenses. Thank you for thinking of our family during this difficult time.
Our Dad was a selfless and amazing man who loved and valued his family and friends. He was always there to lend a hand or his time or money to those in need even when his own resources of those ran low. It seemed no matter where we went with Dad someone always knew him, would stop us to chat and he always made the time!
What he was best at though was being a Father to all six of his kids. He did everything with us from homework to fishing, camping, little league...even teaching us to sew! Among his many skills was his ability to style a perfect French Braid and turn any situation into a teachable moment or history lesson.
He taught us about kindness, to appreciate what we have, to appreciate each other, the importance of patience, of family, a solid work ethic and so much more. He was often repeating sayings like “if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing at all”, “treat others how you would want to be treated” and “turn the other cheek.”
His best line by far, especially when we were teenagers was “I don’t need to be your friend, I need to be your Dad.” Once we became adults, Dad did become our best friend! His wisdom is unmatched and I hope he knows we realize that.
He took us wherever he could even on a shoestring budget, to the Bronx zoo, the Botanical Gardens, The Hanaford Circus, the NYC Ballet, Jones Beach, Hiking at Kensico, and countless historical sites. What we didn’t have in “things” he made up for with amazing experiences and memories to last a lifetime.
He loved his plaid shirts, his pinky ring, his open toe sandals, Ford’s Lincoln Town Car, Christmas Time, Wednesday Family Dinners but most of all he loved being a Dad and he truly loved all his family and friends.
He was a loving, patient, smart and funny Dad who we love dearly, miss sorely and who we will strive to honor and make proud.
