Our seven-week-old son spent the last week of his life fighting and surviving, with only an IV that failed multiple times, in the hospital for an unknown illness and was given what the surgeon called "an unnecessary surgery." He was not diagnosed, and he lost 3 pounds. We were told not to worry and that all of our concerns were unwarranted. I learned child CPR while in the hospital, holding my child, just in case. He was released to us with a bill of clean health and died in our home within just 5 hours of his release. I could not revive my son.
