Richard Blodgett Funeral Expenses

Richard (Ricky) Blodgett, a lifelong resident of Wentworth NH, passed away tragically just a few days ago. Ricky was very recently diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer. It had metastasized to his brain and kidneys. He underwent critical surgery to remove the brain tumor which, it was hoped, would give him time with his family and a stronger base to begin cancer treatment. Unfortunately Ricky experienced uncontrollable bleeding after his surgery. Several more surgeries were performed throughout the night. The trauma, however, was too severe, and the damage too extensive for Ricky to recover and he was placed on life support. The family said their goodbyes and Ricky passed away peacefully with them by his side.

 

Those who knew Ricky loved him. He was a kind man, a good friend to many. Ricky loved to take away others’ troubles by making them smile and laugh. He worked as the town Road Agent in Wentworth for many years. He supported his community, friends, and family to his last day here on earth. Ricky was the type of man that would give whatever he had to others in need, even though he had little himself. He was there to help in any way he could, whether it was the last dollar in his pocket or his time and work. He never asked anything of anyone.

 

Ricky's wish for his end-of-life was to have a traditional burial like his father's. Due to the time of the year and cold weather, Ricky cannot be laid to rest for several months. The result is mounting funeral expenses as the traditional burial cannot be performed until spring.

 

This has left the family with the heart-wrenching dilemma of how to carry out Ricky’s final wishes. The Blodgett family was not prepared to say goodbye so quickly.  They are in need of emotional and financial support from their community, friends, and family; asking for help is a very difficult thing for Ricky's family to do in his name.
