Hello!
As many of you know, Rick was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in October 2022. At that time, he was given 2 months to 2 years to live. With a positive mindset, family and friend support and sheer stubbornness he has defied his odds and his battle continues.
Over the last 2 years we have made as many new memories as possible, cherishing every moment together, celebrating the small wins, and leaning on one another. Rick completed his initial bucket list a few months ago, which goes to show just how busy he's been living, and quickly drafted a new one.
He is still undergoing chemotherapy treatments, which continue to demonstrate progress, however, as of recently he's been experiencing a fair deal of pain that his prescribed pain medications alone could not manage. In an effort to find other pain management strategies, Rick reached out to a naturopathic doctor and started naturopathic medical treatments in Sudbury as of early October.
So far, these treatments have made a significant impact on Rick's ability to manage his pain and his overall quality of life. While our intention is for him to continue his naturopathic medical treatments alongside his chemotherapy treatments, the naturopathic medical treatments are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Program (OHIP).
We welcome all donations to help Rick fund his naturopathic medical treatments. Please know there is no pressure to donate and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the love and support you continue to show our family.
