Richard Allen Holmgren

Hello friends! My husband, Richard Holmgren, has had a very bad time in the last ten days. On Tuesday, May 6, he was violently vomiting. I took him to our Conway hospital. They did bloodwork and CT scans and found four gallstones blocking a tube by the pancreas, and they immediately took him to surgery to get the gallstones removed. When he came back from surgery, his organs were slowly shutting down, and we transferred him to MUSC hospital in Charleston, which is two and a half hours away. They put a breathing tube in him. They did a bunch of tests again, and he had surgery the next morning to have his gallbladder out and cut a part of the small intestine out. When he came back from surgery, he was filling up with fluids, and they had to go back to surgery to open up his abdomen so his organs wouldn’t be crushed by the fluid buildup. They put him on a dialysis machine, and it ran continuously. His blood pressure was out of control. He had Afib. Then back to surgery to get his organs washed, cut some more of the intestines and bowels, and colon. Yesterday, I was told he was not going to live. They are taking him off the breathing tube and machines to let him pass peacefully, and they will be sure he is pain-free. This will happen about 8 am. Doctors seem to think he will pass in a few hours because his lungs are so bad. Rich didn’t have any life insurance or leave any money at all. I need to figure my life out without him. I know he will be in heaven with his family and my Al, who passed about 8 years ago from kidney failure too. I am asking if anyone can afford to donate, I would appreciate it. I can’t believe all this started just with gallstones. We had a good life, and he was a hardworking, good man. May he rest in peace when he passes tomorrow. Thank you for listening.
