Friends and family we are sad to say the fight is over. After nearly 2 years battling soft tissue Sarcoma cancer--from suspect x-ray to lung removal and now bone degeneration leading to partial paralysis--we have finally come to accept the deadly disease that it is. Rich has stopped treatment and is now under Hospice comfort care.
His cheerful voice has been waking up Northern Arizona for over three decades. Helping others in any way possible. Always giving 100% without complaint. I think he’s one in a million, but it never crossed my mind that meant a rare disease, complicated with unique circumstances, would be his final segue.

I need to tell you about my best friend Rich Malone. He's not just my best friend, but he's my best man! See, he was the best man at my wedding & I was proud to be the best man when he and Juli tied the knot. He's not just my best friend or my best man, but he's the older brother I never had & always wanted.
Rich is the ying to my yang. As loud as I have known to be, he's always lived his life somewhat quiet and reserved. He's been the king of the Northern Arizona airwaves, with a morning radio show that now goes on for 27 years! Not only have people woke up to Malone in the Morning, but Rich has built 2 station formats from the ground up! He is an Arizona radio pioneer!
Here comes the hard part. Very few know what he and his "team" have been going through lately. I am sorry if you're just now learning of this, but this is the time we need to lean on family and friends. Rich has been diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer (sarcoma). It's located on his left lung. They tell us it's a "genetic abnormality". With surgery, and possibly chemotherapy, and a lot of love he WILL BEAT THIS CANCER!!
If you've ever been through months of tests and surgeries, you know how exorbitant the bills get. I've seen what he has gone through all ready & I know the long road he has ahead of him. I cannot believe what they charge! But as usual, Rich is not thinking of himself. His greatest fear is leaving his amazingly strong & loving wife Juli, with suffocating debt. She has been his rock & is full of the positive energy Rich needs right now.
With me being so far away, it's tough to know how to help. So, I opened this account, in hopes that our friends and family might be able to help. I know it's a tough time for everyone right now, but with your help we can stand up for Rich & Juli and kick this cancer in it's a....Well, you know.
