Rich in What Matters, The Hope Effect fundraiser
Donation protected
Hey everyone! Julia Ubbenga from the blog Rich in What Matters here. I have something SUPER exciting to share with you!
Last week I was in a Zoom call with Minimalist blogger and author Joshua Becker and friends and learned more about his Non-profit The Hope Effect .
You guys, they are doing AMAZING work! The Hope Effect is taking children out of orphanages in third world countries and placing them in homes with families. In our country we are so blessed to have the foster care system and institutions are a thing of the past. However, many third world countries haven’t even considered this model. The Hope Effect is going in and literally rewriting the laws in some areas of the world so that it’s legal for orphaned children to live within families instead of in orphanages.
Joshua told the story of little JJ from Sonora, Mexico. He was born in January 2020 during the pandemic, abandoned at birth, and placed in an orphanage at 4 days old. Every adult he ever saw for the first year and a half of his life wore a mask. He never saw smiles, never saw complete facial expression, and never saw mouth movements that are needed to learn how to speak. You can imagine his development was significantly delayed. The Hope Effect stepped in, placed him in a loving family and now he is just thriving. He’s talking, walking—he has a chance at life again. And that’s what the Hope Effect is doing. Giving children a childhood and ultimately a life again.
While orphanages are certainly a better place for children to live than in the streets, they are definitely not the ideal environment. The statistics support this. For example children raised in orphanages are 500x more likely to commit suicide than those raised within families.
Together we can help these children thrive in families instead of just survive in orphanages.
And that’s why I’m excited to announce the Rich In What Matters Hope Effect fundraiser. If each of you could donate just $10 that would make such a huge difference! There are almost 10,000 of you in the Rich in What Matters Community - imagine what we could do if we all come together and give a little.
One hundred percent of your donation will go to The Hope Effect, and they use 100% of your money in the field, helping orphans.

Let’s rally together as Rich in What Matters Community to help support The Hope Effect . Let’s all give a little and give orphans the gift of a family.
Thanks SO MUCH in advance for donating -- I'm blown away by your generosity! Together we can make such a difference! Together we can give these forgotten children a childhood.
