My dad, Rich Bambenek, was diagnosed with medullary thyroid cancer in 2011.
He underwent surgery immediately following his diagnoses to have his thyroid removed, and shortly after that, found out that the cancer had spread to his liver. He was put on a chemo pill, and has gone through several rounds of radiation. Both of which have caused severe damage to several parts of his body, and has caused multiple surgeries with many weeks off of work.
Most recently, my dad was diagnosed with Cushings disease, and was hospitalized shortly after Christmas of 2016. After 5 years of fighting one crazy battle, my dad has made the decision to stop the chemo, and to not undergo any more surgeries. He has chosen to live out the rest of his life peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family and close friends.
My mom, Debbie Bambenek, being the incredible person she is.... has been taking several days and weeks off of work in order to keep my dad comfortable, and to spend every possible moment with him as he leaves this life. She is running out of paid time off of work, and we would all hate to see her have to leave my dad's side in order to keep up with her bills. Any help financially would be amazing at this time. We thank you from the bottoms of all of our hearts, and can't thank everyone enough for all of the love and support we've all been given throughout these past 5 years. We have amazing family and friends who have already given us the world. Thank you all!!!
