Rich and Melodie Moore Family
Donation protected
Rich, Melodie, and their children, Glade, Carter, Erin, and Derek, are dear friends of ours and this community who have constantly given of their time and talents to help all those around them.
Several months ago, Rich accepted a position at a company in Oklahoma moving them away from family, neighbors, and a lifetime of memories. They were all very excited about this new adventure. Between their oldest getting married, another child going off to college, and the remaining two at home, their lives were already pretty crazy. They purchased a home and started to begin a new chapter in their life.
A little over a month ago, while on their way to the airport to come home for Thanksgiving, Rich suffered an aneurysm in his neck. The blood from the ruptured aneurysm bled into his spinal fluid putting pressure on his brain. He was rushed to the hospital and put under sedation to save his life and hopefully allow his body time to heal. Over those next few weeks, Melodie was a model of patience and faith. She exercised great optimism and strength as she watched her husband fight for his life. Rich was unable to speak to Melodie due to the tubes in his throat and to ease his pain doctors kept him in and out of sedation. Their faith in God and Rich's will to get better has brought them many miracles these incredibly difficult weeks. The doctors and nurses are amazed at his progress and calling it nothing short of a miracle. Within weeks of the trauma, Rich is now sitting up, communicating verbally, and breathing on his own. Eventhough he is making great progress, many challenges to his recovery lay ahead.
Rich was moved out of the ICU and into the stroke ward and was told by the neurologist that the next few months will be the hardest of his life, and the most important in his recovery. He still has the inability to walk by himself and his body is very very weak, but aside from the many physical challenges, Rich is coherent, aware, and optimistic. In order for him to recover, his doctor has asked for him to be transferred from Oklahoma to a facility in Atlanta called The Shepherd Center, one of the top 10 rehabilitation centers in the country, where he will get the best care for recovery.
Rich is set to move to Atlanta this coming Friday, December 21st, and is expected to be there for several months. Melodie will be going with him to Gerogia.
Melodie and Rich have not been able to work since the day of his aneurysm. She has been constantly at his side. After starting a new job and relocating to a new state, their financial resources are beginning to thin. At the age of 50, no one plans for and prepares for a debilitating medical emergency such as this.
It has now been almost a month since the aneurysm and bills are starting to accumulate. This fundraising endeavor is not intending to satisfy all their urgent financial needs, but simply to ease whatever burden we can to allow them to focus on Rich healing.
We are humbly calling to action all those who can sympathize with the chaos of life's trials to stand up and help. The Moores need us to come together on their behalf as their friends, family, community, or even strangers who have the means, to please spare something, anything to help ease the urgent financial burdens they face and the long road of recovery ahead.
Donations are also accepted at any America First under the Richard Moore Charitable Account.
