I’m raising this fundraiser for Momodo Sonko’s family in Brikama Town, Gambia. Momodo first reached out to me asking for help buying a bag of rice. When I needed more time to cash money through, even while I was dealing with my own family safety concerns and personal finances, Momodo was patient with me and spoke with such kindness throughout the whole process. That stayed with me.

Momodo’s family is very large, with many young family members and many older ones, and they are struggling to afford food. The need right now is simple but deeply important: funds from this fundraiser will help buy rice for the family. I want to help ease the worry of hunger and make sure there is food for them to share at home.

This is also an ongoing need. Hunger is not something that disappears after one day, and steady support can help Momodo’s family continue to have rice as time goes on. Because GoFundMe does not support withdrawals directly in Gambia, I will receive the funds myself and personally deliver the support outside of GoFundMe so the money can be used for food for Momodo’s family.
