Ricardo's Fight Against Stage 4 Kidney Cancer
Donation protected
My name is Ricardo,
I must say that this year 2020 has changed my life. I learned in March that I had a left renal mass. My urologist had the impression of suspected renal cell carcinoma or less likely oncocytoma. The urologist told me that everything was contained in the left kidney and if we remove the left kidney I would be cancer free and in observation. After my surgery in April 2020, the pathology revealed an 11.5 cm grade 4 clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
On Friday, October 23, 2020, I was scheduled for a six month follow up. Before my appointment, the urologist sent me to get MRI and CT scan done. My Urologist called me on Thursday night and told me that it's pointless for me to make my appointment with him. He stated that based on the x-rays, the cancer was spreading, there is no chemotherapy, no surgery and he would refer me to an oncologist for possible medication. I went to see an oncologist and he confirmed there are multiple nodules where the kidney was removed as well as multiple lung nodules in both lungs, and he recommends immunotherapy. This therapy gives me a 10% chance of curing the cancer.
My family and I are praying for good therapy results, and we are staying hopeful & positive. We appreciate all of your continued support and prayers! <3
I want to sincerely thank everyone for all your support, love, texts, calls, and donations! We could not have asked for better friends and family!
We don’t know how strong we are until being strong is the only choice we have.
Thanks again to everyone, mere words cannot express our gratitude!!!
