Riana’s Transition Surgery Fund

I’m reaching out for help with something deeply personal and incredibly important to me—my journey towards gender-affirming surgery. After years of planning and saving, I’ve come to realize that I simply cannot cover the cost on my own. That’s why I’m asking for your support in raising AUD$30,000 (approx ¥2.8million yen) to help make my surgery in Thailand a reality.

This surgery is not just cosmetic — it is life saving.

It's essential for my mental and physical well-being, and the hardest part is that it’s a cost I cannot manage without asking for help. I'm currently surviving through my PhD degree without a clear graduation date and I currently have no way to even begin to save for this surgery.

**About me:**

Hi I’m Riana, but you might know me on social media as Riana_Koala. I began my medical transition 2.5 years ago. I always knew there was something different about me, but due to growing up in a fundamentalist Christian household, I was never able to get the answers I needed. I simply thought everyone struggled with their gender like I did. However, it was ultimately my transition which saved me and helped me to live true to myself. Transition has been night and day for me with significant improvements to my mental health, however, there is still a lot of work to be done. I grew up in Japan and transitioned here in Tokyo. Being trans in Japan has not been easy… I have had to navigate losing people close to me, medical gatekeeping, a lack of medical coverage by insurance, and a lack of trans community support. Not one single part of my transition has been easy and I feel like I’ve been punching upwards this entire time. I simply cannot keep fighting the system by myself and that’s why I’m asking for your help here today.

**Where:**

After doing a lot of research over the years and considering my situation + finances, I have decided to go to Thailand. It is hard for me to book a date without the funds in my account, but I plan to book my surgery with either Dr. Suporn or  Theerapong in Bangkok about a year from now if possible.

**Breakdown of the AUD$30,000 cost:**

- $20,000 Sex reassignment surgery (Penile‑Peritoneal Vaginoplasty)

- $5000~7000 Breast Augmentation (Motiva Ergonomix)

- $1000~2000 Tracheal Shave (removal of Adams apple)

++Dr. Consultation ‍and lab tests

++ Round-trip flight ✈️ to Thailand

++ Hotel + nurse visits

$30,000 may seem like a lot of money but we can easily achieve this if:

- 1000 people donate $30; or

- 500 people donate $50; or

- 200 people donate $150; or

- 100 people donate $300.
